One Story Told….
I don’t tell my story to assign blame—I tell it because it changed how I see trust and authority, only telling it on my own voice.
Last year, at one of the most respected hospitals in the region, I went in for what was supposed to be a routine surgery. I was told and lectured with many physicians they have, not to worry about it. I trusted the system completely—the reputation, the expertise, the confidence in every pre-op conversation.
But something went wrong.
What followed wasn’t just physical correction with some recovery time. I learned that being informed is not the same as being heard, and that asking questions is not the same as getting simple answers. Physicians just do not like to be asked too many questions. Concerns felt brushed aside. Then you start to realize how easy it is to feel small inside a system that’s supposed to take care of you.
This same system, yes turned me to a homeless.
Well, this space is meant to be public and not so polished. Parts of it may be graphic. It's what actually happened, not a cleaned-up version of it.
It is an open door for others. If you’ve had an experience—good, bad, or somewhere in between, you’re welcome to share it here. Because the more real stories been told, the harder the issue to be ignored.
